Technical request data
Web Metrics Guide processes technical request data to operate the site, keep it secure, prevent abuse, assess traffic quality, troubleshoot problems, and improve the website.
The application database currently stores technical request metadata such as request time, request method, host and path, whether a query string was present and its length, user agent, referrer without the query string, selected HTTP and browser headers, cookie presence flags, and status code.
The application database does not store the full query string and does not store full IP addresses.
Client-side usage events
Web Metrics Guide uses a first-party, same-site JavaScript file to collect limited usage events for traffic quality, security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and website improvement.
The collected events may include JavaScript execution, page loading, page visibility changes, approximate timing after page load, first scroll, first pointer movement, and first keydown interaction. Pointer events are collected without mouse or pointer coordinates. Keydown events are collected without key values and without typed text.
Client-side event records may include the page path, a linked page request identifier where available, a temporary sessionStorage-based session identifier, approximate seconds after page load, viewport and screen dimensions, timezone offset, browser language, visibility state, user agent, and small non-sensitive event metadata.
The client-side event collection does not use localStorage for tracking, does not provide cross-site tracking, and does not use fingerprinting techniques such as canvas, WebGL, audio, font, or battery fingerprinting.
Hosting infrastructure
The hosting provider and server infrastructure may process technical access data, including IP addresses, as part of normal web hosting, delivery, security, and troubleshooting.
The hosting provider is DomainFactory GmbH.
Forms
The site currently includes a contact form, newsletter form, limited beta/account request form, and login/reset-password forms. These forms may store submitted content and technical/form metadata for processing, security, abuse prevention, and traffic-quality evaluation.
Form metadata may include form integrity signals and other anti-abuse form metadata. Password values are not stored by the application. If a password field is submitted, the application may store metadata such as whether a password was submitted and its length.
No real account creation, login, newsletter delivery, or password reset is currently provided by these forms. No email is currently sent by the application when these forms are submitted.
Cookies
No analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies are currently used by Web Metrics Guide.
An internal testing exclusion cookie may be used by the site operator to prevent operator test visits from being logged by the application. This cookie is intended for site operation and testing, not for visitor analytics or advertising.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR applies, technical request metadata, client-side usage events, form submission records, and form integrity signals are processed for the operator's legitimate interests in operating the website, maintaining security, preventing abuse, assessing traffic quality, troubleshooting issues, and improving the site.
Retention
Application request metadata, client-side usage events, and form-integrity metadata are normally retained for up to 180 days, unless longer retention is necessary for security, abuse investigation, legal claims, or technical troubleshooting.
Form message content may be retained for up to 12 months where needed to handle the request or document communication.
Hosting logs and backups may follow the hosting provider's and backup system's normal retention cycles.
Your rights
Where applicable data protection law provides these rights, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent for the future.
Requests can be sent to info@webmetricsguide.com.
